Overview: Westren Capital is a London-based proprietary trading firm specialising in digital asset markets. This role sits within our Research team
We are seeking a clinically trained medical professional with postgraduate specialization in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, or a related discipline to join our healthcare research platform.

The position sits within the fundamental long/short investment team, where scientific and clinical expertise is applied directly to the research and evaluation of publicly traded biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

The successful candidate will work alongside Portfolio Managers and investment professionals to develop differentiated views on companies, therapeutic programs and upcoming clinical or regulatory catalysts.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep scientific diligence on biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies across global public markets.
- Evaluate drug mechanisms, clinical evidence, trial design, efficacy, safety and competitive pipelines.
- Assess vaccines, infectious-disease programs, antimicrobial therapies, diagnostics and emerging biotechnology platforms.
- Track clinical readouts, regulatory decisions, scientific conferences and other events capable of materially affecting company valuations.
- Identify situations where scientific evidence and market expectations appear misaligned.
- Develop research that contributes to long and short investment theses.
- Conduct primary research with physicians, researchers, clinical investigators, KOLs and industry specialists.
- Present scientific findings and their potential investment implications directly to Portfolio Managers.
- Continuously reassess investment theses as new scientific and clinical information becomes available.

Preferred:
- Medical degree or equivalent international medical qualification.
- Postgraduate qualification in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, Pathology, Virology, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong ability to interpret primary scientific and clinical literature.
- Demonstrated expertise in evaluating biological and clinical evidence.
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interest in biotechnology, public markets and fundamental investing.

Requirements

Requirements:
- Medical degree or equivalent international medical qualification.
- Postgraduate specialization in Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, Pathology, Virology, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of clinical research, drug development and biological sciences.
- Ability to analyse primary scientific literature and clinical trial data.
- Ability to assess therapeutic mechanisms, efficacy, safety and competitive landscapes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex scientific findings into clear investment-relevant analysis.
- Strong interest in biotechnology, pharmaceutical markets and public-market investing.
- Prior hedge-fund or investment experience is preferred but not mandatory.
