C++ Trading Platform Developer
Engineering · London · Full-time · On-site
Annual base salary: £160,000 – £200,000 GBP
Build and maintain the core trading platform in high-performance, low-latency C++
Role description
Westren Capital is a London-based proprietary trading firm specialising in digital asset markets. This role sits within our Trading Technology team, building the platform our trading desks depend on every day.
Our work sits at the intersection of statistical modelling, market microstructure, and engineering. The aim is straightforward, if not easy: extract durable signals from noisy data and convert them into scalable, risk-aware strategies. That requires intellectual honesty, a tolerance for ambiguity, and a willingness to discard ideas that do not survive contact with reality.
We operate in small, highly collaborative teams where research, engineering, and trading are tightly coupled. Outcomes matter, not narratives. Compensation and progression reflect that directly.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain core components of the trading platform, including order management, market data handling, and position tracking
Write high-performance, low-latency C++ code that sits directly in the path between a decision and an executed trade
Work closely with traders and quants to understand what the platform actually needs to do, not what it was originally spec'd to do
Debug and resolve production issues on live trading systems, where downtime has an immediate, measurable cost
Improve platform reliability, observability, and performance on an ongoing basis, not just when something breaks
Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales across more venues, asset types, and strategies
Requirements
Requirements:
Strong C++ skills, with real experience building low-latency or high-throughput systems, ideally in a trading or financial context
Solid understanding of Linux systems programming, concurrency, and network programming
Experience with market data handling, order management systems, or exchange connectivity is a strong advantage
Comfortable working directly with traders and researchers, translating fuzzy requirements into precise, working systems
Methodical debugging skills; you find the actual cause of a problem, not just a plausible one
Python proficiency for tooling, testing, and scripting alongside core C++ work
