Role description
Westren Capital is a London-based proprietary trading firm specialising in digital asset markets. This role sits within our Trading Technology team, building and supporting the systems that connect our trading strategies to venues, exchanges, and liquidity sources across digital asset markets.
Where our platform and pricing teams focus on the core trading engine, this role owns the layer around it: exchange connectivity, trade capture, monitoring, and the tools that let traders and engineers see what the system is actually doing at any given moment.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain exchange connectivity and trade capture systems across a growing number of digital asset venues
Design and support monitoring and alerting tools that give traders and engineers real-time visibility into system health and trading activity
Investigate and resolve production issues across the trading systems stack, often under time pressure when a venue or connection misbehaves
Work across a multi-language stack (Python, C++, and others) depending on what a given system actually needs
Collaborate closely with traders, quants, and platform engineers to understand how systems are actually used, not just how they were spec'd
Improve reliability and observability of trading systems on an ongoing basis, not just when something breaks
Requirements
Requirements:
Solid programming experience in Python and/or C++, with the ability to work across a mixed-language trading systems stack
Experience with exchange connectivity, trade capture, or order management systems is a strong advantage
Comfortable debugging live production issues methodically, under pressure, without guessing
Strong understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals
Prior exposure to crypto or other 24/7 markets is a plus given the operational demands of always-on trading
Clear communicator, able to work directly with traders and engineers who need fast, accurate answers
